When Plato wrote the Symposium in the fourth century BC (c. 385-370 BC), Athenian society was experiencing a period of strong democratic life, even though participation was limited to a relatively small elite. Athenian art flourished at this time, giving rise to remarkable achievements in drama, sculpture, and architecture.
This creative vitality unfolded against the backdrop of the Peloponnesian War, a long and devastating conflict between Athens and Sparta, whose effects were felt deeply across the city's political and social life. The Symposium remains one of Plato's most influential works, celebrated for the questions it raises and the reflections it invites.
Inspired by Plato's dialogical masterpiece and by the theme of our Symposium, we warmly invite you to share your contributions, research, and work to spark discussion, generate ideas, and enrich our Scientific Society - now more open than ever to the many applications of Group Analytic theory and technique.
